Climb onto your board using your
hands - from the side -
-
Climb off your board by using
your hands to the side - just like when riding
a horse.
-
Never jump in front or behind
your board - as the board may hit you.
-
Do not fall head first into the
water - always try to land on your feet or at least
with your hands out in front of you, to break your
fall.
-
When riding standing up - jump
away and to the side of your board landing on your
feet with your hands out in front of you.
-
Break your fall by using your hands
to protect your spine and your neck from possible
injury.
-
Even though your board is made
of a soft material always protect your delicate
organs like your face.
-
Whenever you fall off your board
awkwardly place your hands over your face, as your
eyes are soft tissue and require protection ALWAYS.
-
During your lesson stay alert
and keep your eyes and ears open.
-
Use your peripheral vision to
avoid collision with others students.
-
Stay alert and keep your eyes
on the approaching waves.
-
Stay close to your teacher throughout
the lesson.
-
Stay within the breaking wave
zone where your teacher is.
-
If a rogue wave comes toward you
push your board away to the side and dive under
the breaking wave to avoid impact.
-
Remember hands out in front to
protect your neck and spine from possible collision
with the sand below the surface
