Standing Up

This part of the lesson is really hard to teach over the Internet. You really need to do a surf class to visually fully comprehend the stand up process. We can help you by providing you with some floor practice. The best way to prepare yourself for your first lesson is to practice 100 meter running starts. Say out loud on your mark get set - go! Start by lying on the floor press up off the floor using your hands then climb up doing a race start. Remember your stand up routine as 1- 2-3. Try ten of these slowly and smoothly. Then jump on the phone, ring up and book a lesson, this will allow you to learn ten times faster Here are some photos of the stand up process.

Stance

Kelly Slater Six Times World Champion, believes that your surfing stance is the most important part of surfing.
Crouch low as often as you can, point to where you wish the board to go and rotate you hip around as you stand up.
This begins the process of turning. You can carve turn simply by crouching and rotating your hip into the direction you wish to take.
Cutting across the wave face requires steering the board with your hands then pointing to where you wish the board to go.
Staying low allows all this to happen smoothly with speed and stability.
All this can be learned in an intermediate lesson with Merrick up in Noosa (Mobile 0418787577.)
Now its time to try all these activities, in the water, good luck and great surfing.
