After Your Lesson

Post lesson Surf Advice for everyone.

Now that you have completed your surfing lessons we can give you some additional advice to help you on your way.

Firstly you need to do some stand up practice using the floor and some coins to land your feet on.

Remember your practice routine you learned with us on the sand. Press up 1 -2

Other exercises you can do are, 100 metre starts, stretching your lower back and hamstrings and high elbow paddling.

Remember you can paddle a board without surf so use any water-way to practice paddling.

20 paddles then rest for 1minute then 20 paddles and so on till you are tired.

Paddle with both legs in the air to help you use your back muscles, flicking your wrist at end of each paddle.

When you finally go down for your first solo surf, practice your stand up routine on the beach then when you are ready head out on a really small surf day.

Learn while the surf is small and you can try to dominate your environment.

Practice sitting on your board and use a marker on the beach to keep you in the middle of the sand bank.

Once you feel you can stand up without much thought you are ready to head out for your first water practice.

The biggest mistake most first timers make is forgetting to paddle properly especially when the wave hits you.

Do not break your paddle until you feel the wave is pushing you forward and you are moving out ahead of the wave only then do you stand up.

Catch the wave, steer your board then climb forward and stand in a crouching position. Pointing your leading hand toward the beach, hip forward and squatting low, weight on your front foot for speed. Then ride as far as you can relaxing your legs to handle any chop coming your way.

You are always welcome to come back for additional intermediate lesson any time you like.

Just call us and explain that you are coming back to Noosa and would like to do a refresher intermediate lesson.

Good luck and see you in the water!
